Terms of use
The terms, in plain language
Using PlainLogic means you accept these terms. They are written the way the site is built: directly, without legalese. They are not a substitute for legal advice. Last updated October 2, 2026.
What this site is
PlainLogic is a free interactive technology lab: experiments, working tools, mini games, and a local site assistant named Pip. There are no accounts, no subscriptions, and no cost. Everything is provided as-is.
Acceptable use
Use the lab freely, and keep it usable for everyone else:
- Don't hammer the live-data feeds or try to break the site, its proxy, or its experiments.
- Don't use the site for anything unlawful, or to mislead people about what the data shows.
- Don't scrape the live-data proxy to resell the feeds — the underlying data belongs to the public agencies listed in the Situation Room sources, and their terms apply.
If use looks abusive, access may be limited. That has never happened and the hope is it never needs to.
No warranty
The lab is provided as-is, with no warranties of any kind — not that it will be available, correct, or fit for any particular purpose. Pages can have bugs, feeds can go down, and experiments can be wrong in instructive ways. If something matters, verify it at the source.
Experiments are educational
The lab experiments (network simulator, data pipeline, server room, automation builder, games) are simplified models built to teach real concepts — they are not production systems and not a basis for real-world decisions. Live data is informational: read the disclaimer before relying on anything shown here.
Intellectual property
The site's text, code, games, experiments, and Pip are the operator's work. Personal, non-commercial use is fine — try things, learn from them, share what you made. If you republish the site's content or experiments widely, credit PlainLogic. For commercial reuse, ask first at help@plainlogic.org.
Changes to these terms
These terms may change as the lab grows. The version on this page is the current one; material changes will be noted here with a new date.
